SEPATON to Speak at SNW Spring about Data Deduplication and Disaster Recovery

MARLBOROUGH, MA – April 6, 2010 – SEPATON, Inc., the leader in enterprise-class disk-based data protection solutions, today announced that Thomas Rivera, senior technology associate, will present a tutorial focused on data deduplication strategies at Storage Networking World (SNW) Spring 2010, taking place April 12 – 15 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL. SEPATON will also showcase its backup and recovery, data deduplication, and remote replication products during the event at booth #106. 

 

 

Additionally, Mr. Rivera has been named chair for the Storage Networking Industry Association’s (SNIA) Data Protection & Capacity Optimization (DPCO) Committee. He has been involved with SNIA for the past two years focusing on data protection and data deduplication.   Mr. Rivera has assisted with the bi-annual publication of the SNIA Buyers Guide, presented tutorials, and authored expert articles on SNIA’s behalf. 

 

Titled, “Deduplication’s Role in Disaster Recovery,” Mr. Rivera’s tutorial will be presented on Thursday, April 15 at 10:20 am. He will address the question of how deduplication fits into DR strategies, and what the various architectural choices available today are for implementation.

 

“Data deduplication can be applied to replication of data for disaster recovery projects, since deduplication significantly reduces the amount of bandwidth required to replicate data,” said Rivera. “To succeed, IT must understand how to technically apply deduplication, its impact on replication over a WAN, and how it affects meeting data protection SLAs for DR environments.”
