DeltaStor® data deduplication software enables the SEPATON S2100®-ES2 virtual tape library (VTL) to optimize capacity while performing wire-speed backups and accelerated restores. With DeltaStor data deduplication software, enterprises can protect petabytes of data in a single system while realizing significant savings in data center space and power consumption.

DeltaStor data deduplication software leverages SEPATON’s unique DeltaScale™ architecture to analyze the commonalities and relationships between the documents in each backup set. It then focuses its examination on these documents, performing a byte-level comparison to previously stored data. This process makes DeltaStor data deduplication significantly more efficient at reclaiming capacity.

DeltaCache Recovery™ Restores Files Instantly

DeltaStor’s unique DeltaCache Recovery™ feature enables the VTL to restore data instantly at industry-leading rates. It stores a full copy of the most recent backup intact and replaces duplicate data in older backups with pointers forward to it. As a result, the VTL can restore the most commonly used files at industry-leading rates without the need for reassembly.

Scale Performance and Capacity

DeltaStor is the only technology that can scale data deduplication processing across multiple SEPATON Replication Engine (SRE®) nodes and perform backup, deduplication, replication, and restore concurrently. As a result, a SEPATON appliance with DeltaStor can backup data to safety at up to 2 TB/hour per node and deduplicate it concurrently at a rate of up to 25 TB per day per node. The unique DeltaScale architecture of the S2100-ES2 VTL enables it to scale performance  simply by adding SRE nodes (up to eight) or to scale capacity by adding disk shelves. The S2100-ES2 delivers industry-leading backup and restore performance and up to 1.6 PB of usable capacity (before deduplication) in a single VTL.

DeltaStor enables you to select the data you want to deduplicate by application, backup server, or backup software. You can also tune deduplication by data type for optimal efficiency and to support your backup policies. DeltaStor automatically optimizes data deduplication based on the content of the backup.

Simplify Capacity Planning

DeltaStor data deduplication gives you the information and power to control exponential data growth with ease. The advanced system capacity view provides a variety of key metrics, including snapshots of usable disk capacity, disk space consumed, and remaining capacity. When you are nearing a preset level of capacity usage, the system automatically notifies administrators by email to add capacity. The management console also provides a graph of the actual deduplication efficiency ratio and data capacity reclaimed. Powerful reporting capabilities simplify your capacity planning.
