The SEPATON S2100-ES2 multifunction backup appliance enables you to back up massive data volumes within shrinking backup windows and to restore single files or entire volumes within stringent service level agreement (SLA) goals.

Grid Scalability Reduces Capital Expense

SEPATON backup appliances are built with the unique DeltaScale™ architecture for grid scalability. You can start with a single SEPATON replication engine (SRE®) processing node and add up to seven more to scale performance to 4800 MB/second. Scale physical usable capacity of a single appliance from 12 TB to 1.6 PB (without deduplication or compression) simply by adding disk. The S2100-ES2 automatically discovers, formats, and adds new storage without end-user involvement. Scaling is also simplified with cabinets that are pre-cabled for efficient, non-disruptive expansion of the system.

Designed for Cost Savings

The S2100 is designed with physical tape emulation and full compatibility with leading tape formats to protect your investment in existing technology. It is also equipped with high density 2TB drives and hardware compression to optimize its physical storage capacity so you can store more data in a single easy-to-manage system. Capacity is further optimized by DeltaStor® data deduplication software featuring unique ContentAware technology. This technology captures metadata as data is being backed up and uses it to identify specific objects that contain duplicate data. It then examines those objects at the most granular (byte) level for optimal capacity reduction. 

The S2100-ES2 cuts administration labor cost by automating all storage provisioning and system optimization operations. The SEPATON DeltaView™ Manager automatically brings added storage on-line, configures the devices to their optimal settings, and incorporates it into the appliance as available capacity. It also provides real-time 24x7 platform monitoring,  diagnostics, and advanced phone home functionality.

Flexibility to Meet Changing Needs

From flexible virtual device configurations to highly tunable deduplication and replication, the S2100-ES provides the management control you need to meet your specific requirements. Configure up to 96 virtual devices per node as either a virtual tape library or a virtual tape drive (up to 768 per system) for maximum throughput. Configure up to 5.3 million virtual tape cartridges per appliance.

Storage Pooling

SEPATON’s advanced storage pooling enables you to create discrete storage environments (pools) within a single S2100-ES2 and provide each with separate characteristics, including: disk type, deduplication configuration, replication priority, backup policies, backup application. As a result, SEPATON S2100 appliances support public and private cloud infrastructures by enabling managers to store data from multiple clients, departments, or applications in separate pools, each configured with its own disk storage, deduplication, and replication domains. Guaranteed Secure Data Destruction

Secure Erasure™ is a licensed option for SEPATON S2100® data protection appliances that delivers guaranteed, auditable erasure of data on virtual tape cartridges. With Secure Erasure, the storage administrator can schedule all or selected cartridges to be completely destroyed in a process that conforms with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines. Bandwidth Optimized Replication for Disaster Protection 

SEPATON’s DeltaRemote™ replication software works in conjunction with DeltaStor deduplication to enable fast, cost-effective replication of large data volumes. By identifying duplicate data in the backup stream and transmitting only new data, DeltaRemote can reduce bandwidth requirements by up to 97 percent. The S2100-ES2 Series 1900/2900 can be used as a target or source for replication in existing SEPATON environments.
